Fishing for Trout
Photography by Frances Kearney

Saturday 11 July – Monday 31 August

An exhibition of recent photographic works by Norfolk-based artist Frances Kearney. These fictitious, carefully constructed, large-scale colour photographic tableaux explore the idea of finding sanctuary in nature during childhood. The works consider how notions of fear and anxiety are often projected by the adult viewer onto the subjects, yet absent in the experience of the girls depicted.

Frances Kearney studied photography at the Royal College of Art. She exhibits nationally and internationally and has work in collections including the Victoria & Albert Museum and the Saatchi Collection.

AURORA Edition 2 Screening

Saturday 18 July

Introduced by Aurora’s director, Adam Pugh.

A selection of the best new artists’ work in the moving image from across the world, this programme of 10 short films represents a wide cross-section of current artistic practice – from rigorous formal experiments to lyrical, poetic work, and hand-processed, textural 16mm films alongside maverick digital adventures.

The programme comprises work taken from the competition selection for the most recent edition of AURORA, an annual festival based in Norwich, which explores the potential of the moving image via
film programmes, installation work, performance and more.

Rub Me Up the Wrong Way 2:
The Live Art SuperGig

Saturday 25 July

The first Rub Me Up the Wrong Way, in 2007, was one of the most successful live art presentations staged in the East. Rub Me Up the Wrong Way 2 promises a similarly explosive, challenging and eclectic international bill of provocative and entertaining performances. Curated by Richard Dedomenici, the evening will focus on the increasing trend of live artists using music, but will also feature some of Britain’s most provocative bands.

This will be the summer’s music festival without the queues, a postmodern Glastonbury crammed into one small venue on one night and featuring artists such as crazy Welsh robopop group B.O.R.N., legendary live art supergroup collective Foreign Muck and London-based dancers Fancy Footwerk, who will be coming along to re-create Michael Jackson’s Thriller video.
